Sekirei is a Japanese comedy and ecchi anime series based on the manga of the same name. The series was widely popular during its course of the run and gained mixed reactions from the critics. Till date two seasons of the series have been released, containing 12 episodes each. Recently some anonymous user who worked at the Seven Arcs studio posted that the Sekirei Season 3 will happen and hinted the fan with a series of jumbled numbers for the release date of the anime.

The story involves the super powered beings known as Sekirei who are cute girls with remarkable physical and mental powers. Their powers can be increased by kissing certain humans with special genes, called Ashikabi. Mysterious MBI Corporation runs a Sekirei Plan, which is a Sekirei Elimination Battle competition. The series follows the story of Minato, an Ashikabi who survives the life threatening battles of Sekirei Plan and the fierce competition between Sekirei for him.

News for Sekirei Season 3
Updated on 07/01/2019: Gokurakuin’s manga series Sekirei ended back in March 2015, and there has been no news from the Seven Arcs production studio regarding the third season of Sekirei. The Seven Arcs is currently more interested in making anime movie adaptations. Gokurakuin has launched a new manga series titled Rokushō! The chances of a renewal of the series are not so good.
Updated on 14/04/2018: The production house has made no announcement. It has been 8 years since the second season of the anime finished airing back in 2010, the chances of anime to make a comeback are very less.
There seems to have very rare or no possibilities for the Sekirei Season 3, until in July 2016, the director of the anime, Keizou Kusakawa, said in an interview that he always wished to continue the show and would still like to direct Sekirei Season 3. When he was asked about why Funimation didn’t continue the series he said, maybe because the second season of the anime didn’t do so well in the market and was very harshly reacted by the fans as they didn’t follow the manga storyline completely.
Further, he said that he would like to compensate the audience for the second season with a new installment of the series. This interview took place during the release of the fifth volume of the novel “Riddle story of the Devil”. However, these words from the director are the biggest hope for the Sekirei Season 3 to happen.

Fans of the series will remember that Minaka and Takami found a vessel which had fallen from the space which contained Sekirei and then they founded MBI. Moreover, season 2 of the anime ended with the total destruction in the MBI tower and also the end of the Sekirei Plan. Minato and all his Sekirei left the tower and began to live a normal life. As there is no official word from the Funimation studio or by any of the creators of the show, the release date of the third season cannot be confirmed. But still, let us hope for the Sekirei Season 3 to happen soon.

The fight between Tsukiumi and the 'veiled' Sekirei (Uzume) ends abruptly due to the interference of Sekirei #03, Kazehana. Musubi takes Minato to meet Kuno and her Ashikabi, Haruka Shigi. Despite knowing that Tsukiumi's absence greatly weakens their chances of success, she refuses to help Shigi and Kuno escape, believing their actions to be cowardly.

Karasuba and her Ashikabi, Natsuo Ichinomi, discuss the relationship between Musubi and Sekirei #08, Yume. The escape plan commences. Matsu rushes to the scene on her motorcycle and saves Kusano after she becomes surrounded by MBI Security Service soldiers. The group makes it to the bridge, but are confronted by Benitsubasa and Haihane, members of the Disciplinary Squad with orders to prevent Kuno and Shigi from leaving Tokyo at all costs.

Minato is in despair as Musubi is down for the count, but refuses to give up much to Benitsubasa's irritation, who proceeds to deal with him. Battles rage elsewhere as Kuno and Shiina (along with their respective Ashikabi) come under assault from various adversaries, and thus decided to have themselves winged, repulsing the attacks. But in a twist of fate, someone from Karasuba's past comes to Minato's aid in assisting Kuno and Shigi.
